Litha: The Longest Day

And I mean that in the literal sense.

Today is the longest day of the year, and after today the days will grow shorter until the Winter Solstice, or Yule.

For those of you that don’t know, I’m Wiccan, or at least I’ve been studying Wicca since high school.  The Army didn’t help matters, with little effort or understanding for those that follow a path other than the Judeo-Christian religions.  There are no Wiccan Chaplains in the Armed Forces, and those that try are blocked at every turn.  It was only in 2007 that we were finally allowed to put pentacles on the gravestones of fallen Warrior Witches.  Finding groups was difficult, finding consistency in the groups, more so.

But this post isn’t about the past, it’s about the coming days.  This is a day for new beginnings, to reestablish connections and resolve.  There others that can better explain the meaning of this holiday, so I’l  let them.

For now I take my leave.

Merry meet, and merry part, and merry meet again.
